I know you’ve not heard much from me in a while.  It’s been a year… but my sisters and I are starting to plan our adventure this summer.   I’ve decided the Theme besides recreating my granddads route, is, how far can Claire’s points take us.  So, over the past year I have done promotions, credit cards…. along with all the points I’ve saved up for years and this summer, I’ll be blowing a lot of them.  How many free hotels can we get???  Follow the blog and you will see.

I’ve got Hilton, Marriott, Starwoods, IHG and Hyatt points to burn.  I’ve got a few few nights with the brands too.  Can we make it for the whole trip??? doubtful, but I’m going to try.  It sure would be nice if a hotel chain gave us a break.  I will review each hotel we stay in soooo, we will see.

My granddad started his trip in Winston, but really started and ended it in Charlotte.  I had planned on starting in Charlotte, but it just doesn’t make sense.  I made the executive decision tonight to start and end at Rutherford College (outside of Morganton)  We will be doing the Charlotte to Rutherford College portion at the end of the trip.

So now, I’m trying to figure out what cities we will stay in and how far to go each day.  I will update the blog with any information I/we decide in the coming weeks.  Start expecting more updates (as in weekly and as we get closer to the date, daily).
